Kierki – Polish Hearts online

Kierki is Poland’s classic trick-avoidance game, a cousin of Hearts: four players, 52 cards, every player for themselves. Each of the seven penalty deals has its own thing to avoid – tricks, hearts, queens, kings and jacks, the king of hearts, the 7th and last trick – and the Robber (Rozbójnik) combines them all. Then comes the Odgrywka: everyone picks trumps once and every trick scores +25, and finally the lottery, where the first player out scores +800. Practise against the computer or play with friends.

The rules in brief

• Every player for themselves: 7 penalty deals – no tricks, hearts, queens, kings and jacks, king of hearts, 7th and last trick, then the Robber
• In the Odgrywka everyone picks trumps once: +25 per trick
• Finally the Lottery: first out +800, second +500
