Kierki

Polish Hearts – 4 players, each for themselves – 52 cards (French deck)

Cards and play

• 52 cards, 13 each. Ranking: 2 … 10, jack, queen, king, ace.
• The first dealer is random, then the deal passes to the left; the player left of the dealer leads.
• Follow suit; you need not head the trick or trump. The highest card of the suit led wins (in trump deals the highest trump); the winner leads next.

Penalty deals

Deal	Avoid	Penalty
1. Bez lew	every trick	−20 / trick
2. Bez kier	hearts	−20 / heart
3. Bez dam	queens	−60 / queen
4. Bez panów	kings and jacks	−30 / card
5. Bez króla kier	king of hearts	−150
6. Bez siódmej i ostatniej	7th and 13th trick	−75 / trick
7. Rozbójnik	everything at once	−1300 in total

• In deals 2, 5 and 7 you may lead a heart only if you have nothing else.
• Deals 2–5 end as soon as all penalty cards are taken (this does not change the score).

Odgrywka (plus part)

• Four trump deals: everyone deals once and chooses trumps from their first 5 cards, then receives the rest.
• Trumping is not compulsory. Every trick scores +25.

Loteryjka (lottery)

• The dealer lays any card. Then in turn each player lays a card if able: a card of the same rank as the first card opens a new suit row, otherwise the card directly above the top or below the bottom card of an open row.
• If you can play, you must; if you cannot, you are skipped.
• First out scores +800, second +500.

End, options

• After 12 deals (penalty part −2600 in total, plus part +2600) the highest score wins.
• Option Odgrywka: trumps + lottery (kurnik.pl, default) / trump deals only / no odgrywka (just the 7 penalty deals).
• Tip: in the penalty deals get rid of high cards in your short suits early; in the Rozbójnik every trick hurts.
