Sueca
Portuguese and Brazilian card game – 4 players in two partnerships – 40 cards (French deck without 8s, 9s, 10s)
Cards
- Rank in every suit: Ace, Seven (manilha), King, Jack, Queen, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two – the seven is the second highest card and the jack beats the queen.
- Points: Ace 11, Seven 10, King 4, Jack 3, Queen 2, the rest 0 – 120 in total.
- Partners sit opposite. Everyone gets 10 cards; the dealer’s last card is turned face up and fixes trumps (trunfo). The dealer keeps it, visible to all until it is played.
Play
- The player after the dealer leads. Follow suit if you can; if you can’t, play anything – there is no obligation to trump.
- The highest trump wins the trick, otherwise the highest card of the suit led. The winner leads next.
Scoring
- The pair with more points scores: 61–90 points = 1 game (jogo), 91 or more = 2 games, every trick (bandeira) = 4 games and wins the match at once.
- A 60–60 tie scores nothing, and the winners of the next hand get one extra game (this accumulates).
- The first pair to reach 4 games wins.
- Options: bandeira for all 120 points (some Brazilian rules), a tie simply void, match to 8 games.
