Swiss Jass – 4 players, each for himself, 36 cards
Deal and trumps
- Everyone gets 9 cards (3-3-3). The dealer’s last card is shown face up: its suit is trumps.
- Card values as in Schieber: trump Jack (Puur) 20, Nine (Nell) 14, Ace 11, Ten 10, King 4, Queen 3; plain suits Ace 11, Ten 10, King 4, Queen 3, Jack 2. Last trick +5, 157 in total.
Predictions
- Before play, starting with forehand (right of the dealer), each player in turn predicts how many card points (0–157) he will take.
- Traditionally open; table option: secret predictions revealed only at the end of the deal.
Play
- Forehand leads. Follow suit; you may trump at any time; the trump Jack (Puur) is never forced.
- Undertrumping is allowed only when you cannot follow suit.
- No Weis, no Stöck, no match bonus – only the 157 card points count.
Scoring and end
- Penalty = |prediction − points taken|. An exact hit scores 0 (option: −10 bonus).
- A game is 12 deals (option: 4, 8 or 16 – everyone deals equally often). The lowest total penalty wins.
